Knuckle boom cranes

Our knuckle boom cranes are mounted on a truck and can therefore both lift and transport something. This makes it an ideal combination of crane and transport device for projects where lifting and transport work can be combined.

Because of its size, variable outrigger base, articulating telescopic boom, and options such as a jib and hoisting winch, these machines are also suitable for lifting operations in locations with limited space. For example, in a factory hall during machine removals, or next to public roads.

The table below lists the specifications of our knuckle boom cranes. Curious about the possibilities? Then contact us or request a quote right away!

Hiring a knuckle boom crane from Kraanbedrijf Nederhoff

Knuckle boom cranes offer excellent versatility, making them suitable for a wide range of tasks. They combine hoisting with transportation. Whether loading and unloading heavy materials, placing structures at height or delivering goods to hard-to-reach locations, these machines can do it all. We have knuckle boom cranes from the Palfinger and HMF brands, among others.

Knuckle boom cranes come in a variety of designs. Our machines can be equipped either with a short loading platform or with one of our transport equipment. Furthermore, some can be equipped with a jib. Every crane can perform lifting operations by means of the fixed hook and some of our cranes are equipped with a lifting winch. This lifting winch makes the machine even more versatile. Especially for assembly work, some can also be done with assembly jib, either on the main mast or on the jib.

We have summarized the most important features for each knuckle boom crane on the product cards. More information can be found in the downloadable specifications.

Capacity

Capacity is measured in ton meters. Tonmeter is the product of the number of tons a crane can lift on a given run, measured in meters. The maximum value of ton meters is used to indicate the capacity of the crane. In general, the crane is stronger closer than at a distance, so the boom length is also important.

Boom length

Boom length refers to the length of the mast. Thanks to its unique jib construction, a knuckle boom crane is also known as an articulated telescopic crane. In fact, the boom bends when unfolding and can also telescope. As a result, a knucke boom crane is better able to handle locations with height restrictions than a mobile telescopic crane. Ultimately, the boom, along with any jib, determines the range (flight) and height the crane can reach.

Jib

The jib is an extension of the boom that increases the flight and height that can be achieved. The jib can be angled to reach hard-to-reach areas. As with mobile telescopic cranes, not all of our knuckle boom cranes are equipped with a jib. Therefore, ask about the possibilities.

The jib is an extension of the boom that increases the flight and height that can be achieved. The jib can be angled to reach hard-to-reach areas. As with the mobile telescopic cranes, not all of our knuckle boom cranes are equipped with a jib, and the capacity with or without a jib may vary. Therefore, ask about the possibilities.

Outrigger base

Before lifting operations can begin, a knuckle boom crane will need to be stable. This will require the crane to be set up on its outriggers. The outriggers extend and are grounded. This distance between the centers of the outriggers is therefore stated. To determine the area required to set up the crane, we must add the length of half of the outrigger plate as well as part of the outrigger bulkhead to this distance. More information can also be found in the specifications.

Loading capacity

The loading capacity listed on the product charts applies to the short loading platform. This is what the knuckle boom crane can take in terms of weight. If the load to be transported is heavier, our machines can also be equipped with a semi-trailer or semi-low-loader.

We would be happy to tell you more about our knuckle boom cranes and the possibilities these versatile machines bring.
